You can lead a horse to make an anonymous feedback form, but how do you get the other horses to fill it out?
- a wise sage
I really enjoyed reading Cate Hall’s book “You Can Just Do Things” and loved the concept of getting anonymous feedback to help notice personal blind spots. It’s something I’ve noodled on before, so it immediately resonated when she suggested a clear action step of creating an anonymous feedback form . With that done, I’m realizing there’s a bigger issue than me making a form: discoverability.
The people I know in real life don’t check my website, Twitter(X), or any other online profile, so the number of organic submissions I’ll get rounds to 0.
If I contact people directly though, it doesn’t seem anonymous. If you kill the anonymity, then I’ll just get a bunch of nice sounding words which don’t actually help me grow to be a better human & friend.
The very meh solution I’ve got for now is to do a message blast to many people at once, and make it clear it’s a big group, to try to preserve the sense of anonymity (the reality doesn’t matter as much as someone’s perception, in this case). That still feels a bit spammy, unfortunately. This will have to be a work in progress idea for now.
Luckily there’s my anonymous feedback form now if you have any ideas :)
